Meet our moose

2023

During the last few years we have had a couple of old moose males who have past away due to high age related causes. These moose has been with us since the early years of the park. This year we do not have any adult males, however we do have 4 lovely male calfes called Kalle, Gustav, Birk and Björn born in 2022.

We also expect some new moose calfes for this summer season.

Thank you for your understanding and hope to see you this summer!

About our moose

Our job is taking care of these amazing animals that all are individuals with different needs and preferences. Our moose are tame and friendly towards humans but they are still wild animals with instincts, which we respect and try our best to fulfill and support every day. Our moose mission is that all moose have a natural and dignified life. When a moose passes away due to sickness or age it is very devastating for us. Moose parks also need to exchange animals from time to time to avoid inbreeding. The moose described here are our current ones but sometimes we have to sell or buy new ones – so follow our moose journey!

Moose across generations

Our oldest moose, Ludwig, has now seen two generations of moose keepers

Ludwig is one of the moose that have been born in our park and raised by first father and now son. Our moose keeper Noak has known Ludwig for his entire life and watched him grow from newborn calf to the amazing moose that he is today. Ludwig is so comfortable and trusting around humans and, especially small children, that is a joy to interact with him. Ludwig happily follows Noak every morning when he enters the reserve and finds each moose, check up on them and whistle them forward for breakfast. Ludwig always comes, in his slow pace of course, like the most loyal and loving dog.

Meet and greet our moose

We look forward to meeting you – and so does our moose!

Our moose enjoy human interaction because we always respect them, their nature and limits. All our moose have the option of participating in moose feedings or simply choosing to relax if that is what they prefer. We value our animals and their well being over everything in our park and when a moose feels under the weather we always contact our specialized moose veterinarian and follow the advice closely. The staff and all our moose welcomes you to a beautiful nature experience.

Our moose during 2020 mating season

Have you ever seen moose in heat? We have captured a rare moment on top of the mountain where Nilla and Helga are fighting over Ludwig’s newly dug rut pit (pee hole). Helga is the lucky winner as usual and gives Ludwig a kiss at the end.

A video series on getting a new moose calf

See this two part video series with all our preparations for getting our new calf, Alfred. He is arriving from another moose park and we have documented hos he has arrived and adapted to our park.

Our moose during a cold winter

In this little slow motion video you can meet Helga, Hilda and Zlatan during a heavy snow fall. You can see the details of their movements and how majestic the moose really are!
